Nidosomes: what are they and how does gradual release of active ingredients work?

Nidosomes are microscopic capsules (carriers) containing a set of active ingredients: hyaluronic acid, peptides, amino acids and vitamins. They are delivered through a series of shallow microinjections, much like mesotherapy, but that is where the similarities end.

A classic cocktail becomes available to the skin immediately and all at once. A nidosome capsule behaves differently: its shell breaks down gradually and the contents reach the tissue in small portions. The skin is nourished continuously rather than in a single burst.

After the treatment a kind of depot forms in the skin. Over the following weeks the capsule shells slowly degrade, releasing hyaluronic acid and peptides exactly where they were placed.

As a result, the concentration of active ingredients stays stable instead of spiking and dropping. In practice this means longer-lasting hydration, steady stimulation of skin regeneration and a result that builds week after week, including between sessions.

All three treatments share the delivery route (microinjections) and the goal: better hydration and skin quality. What differs is what happens to the product after injection.

Classic mesotherapy works instantly, but the ingredients are metabolised within days, so it needs frequent repetition. Skin boosters are stabilised hyaluronic acid that binds water for longer, yet they do not deliver such a broad nutrient mix. Nidosomes combine both approaches: a rich nourishing cocktail plus prolonged action thanks to the capsules.

This does not mean nidosomes replace the other treatments. Skin condition, age and therapy goals decide which method fits best, which is why qualification always starts with a consultation.

The treatment works best for loss of firmness and elasticity, dryness, fine lines, uneven skin tone, post-acne scars and enlarged pores. Typical areas include the face, neck, décolletage and hands; on the thighs and abdomen nidosomes support stretch mark reduction.

Contraindications are the same as for other injectable treatments: pregnancy and breastfeeding, active skin infections, allergy to the ingredients, cancer and autoimmune diseases, and blood clotting disorders.

The visit starts with a consultation and qualification. After cleansing and disinfection a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied, although most patients find the treatment well tolerated. The series of microinjections takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area.

Temporary redness, minor bruising or slight swelling may appear afterwards and usually subside within 1-2 days. Skip make-up for the first 24 hours, avoid sauna, swimming pool and intense exercise for 2-3 days, and protect the skin with SPF 30+ for 1-2 weeks.

The first improvement in hydration and glow is visible after the very first session. The full result builds with the series: optimally 3-5 treatments every 2-3 weeks. The skin becomes more elastic and radiant, fine lines are smoothed and tone and texture even out.

Thanks to the gradual release mechanism the results last up to 6 months after completing the full series, noticeably longer than after a classic mesotherapy cocktail.
